This tank is the latest model of the Israeli-produced Merkava tanks. It is considered one of the most advanced tanks in the world, with regard to protection, fire control, maneuverability and fire power. The tank entered service in 2003, within the 401st Armored Brigade, and later in the 7th Brigade and in other units. These tanks were fitted with the Trophy active protection system against the threat of anti tank rockets and missiles. The tank took part in Operation Cast Lead, in the Second Lebanon War and in Operation Protective Edge.
