The T54 is a Soviet tank from the early 1950's. This tank replaced the T34 tanks that participated in World War II. These tanks were captured by the IDF from the Egyptian and Syrian armies during the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur war. After upgrading, some of these vehicles entered IDF service as Tiran 4 and participated in the Yom Kippur war. Unlike in western tanks, the gunner and commander are located to the left of the main gun.
