Originally, this was a Soviet tank, T-62, produced by the USSR in the early 1960's. Such tanks were captured by the IDF during the Yom Kippur war. Some of them entered service after having been adapted to the needs of the Israeli Armored Corps. The tank has a system for ejecting shell casings outside the turret. The tank was retired from service after Operation Peace for Galilee.
